I'm what you'd call being barely an amateur photographer. However, I do enjoy trying. Most of my photography experience comes from trying to get creative with how I use the camera and family events, parties, site seeing, etc. At this point, this is about the only time I get to play with photography.
I've never gone to school for photography, but when I get (or maybe I should say TAKE) the time, I'd love to take some basic classes to help get a better grasp of the concepts.
With the introduction of digital camaras, given the sohpistication of even the entry level camera, I have a sparked interest in photography. My daughter has taken to photography as well. She has an incredible sense of creativity in her blood, which comes from her Oma, which is a true artist.
The wonderful thing about photography today, since we do have digital, it's much more affordable to be self taught without all the developing costs. I know ... purests will speak to the fact that it's not the same, but for me, it works.
I went through a couple of nice point-and-clicks in the early days of digital cameras, then finally I purchased my first digital SLR (Nikon D40) in early '07. I've been looking into getting some different glass. The stock lens on the D40 just doesn't do it for me. I've been all around trying to figure out a good macro lens for the camera. I have a thing for macro photography, but all the ones I that I like, get up pretty far up there in price, so I hand't made the leap yet. Would also like to get another lens for getting better landscape results.
Since I'm also a "techy" ... I like to see how I can mangle my photo "stuff" in with technology and all. I liked the concept of geo tagging so I found a way to easily geo tag my photos. To see a map of where many were taken, and some of the pieces I used to pull it all together, check this out. Due to the large number of photos, and the means in which it's all loaded, be patient it may take about 10-15 seconds to load. I'm exploring other ways to make this faster, but for now, this is what I have to work with.
Also, I found a cool plugin with allows you to view my "sets" on Flickr here from within this blog. Or you can view the same here directly on flickr.
Got something to say?
